SINGER Ara Johari (pic) is thankful that she has not received any sexual harassing messages from women on social media so far, Harian Metro reported.
However, she said she is still traumatised by an incident where a man kissed her hand after she performed in Nilai, Negri Sembilan, last year.
“There are many female artistes who may have been affected by (indecent messages).
“I am now very careful when sharing on social media.
“I avoid giving detailed information such as the event, location and time,” she said.
Ara, 27, said this after meeting reporters at the launch of her latest song, Menjaga Jodoh Orang Lain, composed by Indonesian musician Ilham Baso.
> More than 200 residents of Kampung Parit 9 Gambut in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, have been living with a pesky fly infestation for the past 13 years, Utusan Malaysia reported.
They said the number of flies is increasing, especially after chickens are let out in farms in the area.
Resident Fazlina Zainal, 39, said that when chickens are let out from the coop, flies get all over her house.
“We have to buy sticker paper priced at RM2.80 but it only lasts a day,” she said, adding there were fears the flies might harm the health of their children.
Another villager, Saiful Azmi Suhood, 42, said there are more than 10 chicken farms in the village.
“The farms are supposed to be opened much further from the residential area,” he said.
Kuih seller Siti Rohaya Kamaruddin, 42, said “attacks” from the flies had sent her out of business.
“Someone has to be responsible for this situation by taking appropriate measures so that there is a win-win solution for both locals and farm owners,” she said.
The Sabak Bernam Municipal Council said it would respond to the matter soon.
