Police nab eight locals with drugs worth over RM54,000 in Kota Tinggi


KOTA TINGGI: Police here have arrested eight local individuals after they were found with various drugs worth more than RM54,000.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the suspects are aged between 19 and 51 and were detained during a special narcotics operation in the Sungai Air Papan area here on Wednesday (July 24) at around 3.40am.

“In the raid, police arrested a total of seven men and one woman along with various drugs.

Checks found that seven of them tested positive for drugs, while five of them have previous drug records.

Investigations found that the syndicate’s modus operandi involved using a house located at the river’s mouth as a location to repackage the drugs before selling them to the local market," he said in a statement on Sunday (July 28).

Supt Hussin added that the syndicate had been active since May this year, with the drugs seized capable of supplying 6,000 addicts in the area.

He said among the drugs seized were 415.2 grams of heroin, 123.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 30 Eramine 5 pills, 592 ecstasy pills, 1.12 grams of ketamine, and 5.47 grams of marijuana.

Supt Hussin added that the drugs are worth RM54,550, while the police also seized three vehicles and RM5,023 in cash from the suspects.

“All of the suspects are currently under remand for seven days until Tuesday (July 30) to assist with the investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.
