On Wednesday (Oct 14), Najib’s lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah said the former prime minister will serve the remainder of his prison sentence for the SRC International Sdn Bhd case under home confinement at his residence in Langgak Duta, Kuala Lumpur, with his family,
He also confirmed that his client had received the home confinement order including an appendix detailing its conditions and implementation mechanism.
He noted, however, that Najib had been advised by the Prisons Department not to disclose the contents of the order to avoid public and media speculation.
He also confirmed that the home confinement would take place at Najib’s residence in Langgak Duta, where he would be allowed to live with his family.
In September, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, granted a conditional pardon allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his SRC International sentence under house arrest, subject to payment of the RM50mil fine and compliance with the stipulated conditions.
