KUALA LUMPUR: Standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding house arrest have been conveyed to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, said Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU) director-general Datuk Zamri Misman.

“Those details have been informed to Datuk Seri Najib,” he said briefly when queried by reporters in Parliament during a media briefing on the Parliamentary Services Act 2025 on Wednesday (Oct 7).

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, who was also present at the media briefing, declined to comment on the matter.

It is understood that the SOPs on Najib’s house arrest is expected to be released soon by the Prisons Department

Najib, 73, has been serving his sentence at the Kajang Prison since Aug 23, 2022, following his conviction for misappropriating RM42mil belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd.

On Sept 18, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, granted Najib a conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence for the SRC International case under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.

The arrangement is subject to payment of the RM50mil fine and compliance with the stipulated conditions.
