KOTA KINABALU: Just stay calm when seeing helicopters flying low and hovering over Putatan here in the next three days from tomorrow, the public here has been advised. (July 23).

It is just a part of the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s training exercise ahead of the launch of its station in Putatan.

“The low-flying heli will be around 500 feet in Putatan and its surrounding areas from July 23 to 25,” said senior assistant fire commander, Mohd Ishak Amran.

Meanwhile, in another unrelated case, Mohd Ishak said an elderly man who went to his orchard is feared missing after failing to return home at Kampung Tambilidon, Pitas, since yesterday morning (July 21).

The department dispatched a team of five from the Kota Marudu station after they were alerted of the incident at 10.30am today (July 22).

“It was learned that the 83-year-old man, identified only as Adau, left home early Sunday morning and did not return home until today.

“The distressed family members contacted the Kota Marudu fire station for help,” he said.

A search and rescue operation was quickly launched, though there is no sign of the missing person yet.
