Cops nab man suspected in teen girl slashing


KOTA KINABALU: Police have arrested a man suspected of being linked to the slashing of a teenage girl on her neck at the Nosoob area of Penampang earlier Thursday (May 7).

It was learned that the suspect, in his 30s, was detained by a police team conducting an operation to track him down around the Kinarut area at about 5.30pm.

Penampang OCPD Supt Sammy Newton is expected to release a statement in connection with the police probe into the incident.

Earlier, the victim, a foreigner aged 16, was reported to have sustained injuries to the neck, believed to have been slashed.

She was found in the room of a rented house in the Nosoob area.

She is currently in a serious condition and receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu.
