Penang bridges to close in stages on July 28 for bridge-to-bridge bicycle ride


GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Bridge and the Second Penang Bridge will be closed in stages on July 28 for the Penang Fellowship Bicycle Ride Bridge-to-Bridge 2024.

State youth and sports committee chairman Daniel Gooi said the Penang Bridge will be closed from 6.30am to 9am while the Second Bridge from 9am to noon (from Batu Kawan to the island).

Gooi also said several roads which are involved in the event will also be closed in stages to ensure a smooth ride.

The ride will take participants through the Penang Bridge, Juru Industrial Road, Batu Kawan before returning to the Sungai Nibong Pesta site via the Second Bridge and Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu highway.

"A total of 2,343 participants have registered to take part in the ride," Gooi said at a press conference at Komtar on Tuesday (July 16).

Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak is expected to flag-off the event and join the ride.
