THE investment banking arm of Maybank – Maybank Investment Bank (Maybank IB), recently launched its myimpact Invest campaign for its retail clients.

The campaign, which builds upon Maybank’s flagship ‘myimpact’ initiative, offers values-based financial services and solutions through fair, transparent, inclusive and sustainable practices.

It also incentivises trading in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Shariah-compliant stocks, aimed at enhancing retail participation on Bursa Malaysia.

Maybank IB officer-in-charge and chief operating officer Tengku Ariff Azhar Tengku Mohamed, highlighted the institution's longstanding commitment to ESG investing.

“With myimpact Invest, we are taking one step further to promote purposeful investing by supporting the local stock market, in particular the constituents of the FTSE4GOOD Bursa Malaysia Index as well as Shariah-compliant securities as determined by Securities Commission Malaysia,” he said.

The campaign, he added, is also designed to meet the rising demand for responsible investing among investors, especially the younger generation who prioritise companies that share their values.

“Through this campaign we also aim to highlight companies on our local stock market that have good ESG practices, which research has shown can contribute to long-term value creation,” said Tengku Ariff.

He further noted that as full-fledged brokers with full-value offerings, Maybank IB will continue to give clients fresh trading ideas delivered through a seamless experience on their platforms.

For example, Maybank Trade MY – launched earlier this year, is a highly intuitive and customisable app designed to cater to users of all levels.

“With just RM10, anyone interested in investing can open a trading account via the Maybank2u website and access a wealth of resources to help them trade smarter.

“By making investing simple, secure and smart, we democratise the ability for people to grow their wealth,” he said.

The app was recently awarded Best Mobile Trading App in Malaysia by Alpha Southeast Asia, as well as Online Securities Platform of the Year (Malaysia) and Digital Transformation of the Year (Malaysia) accolades by Asian Banking & Finance.

The myimpact Invest campaign, which takes place from now till Jan 14, 2025, offers retail clients the chance to win exciting prizes by trading stocks listed on Bursa Malaysia.

Throughout this six-month initiative, participants can vie for rewards such as flight tickets and accommodations in London, Tokyo, and the Maldives, as well as smartphones and online shopping vouchers.

In line with Maybank IB’s dedication to sustainability, the flights offered include carbon offsets, and accommodations will be hosted at green-certified hotels.

To boost retail participation in the local stock market, every 50 trades will earn 20 bonus entries, while new clients who open an online account and trade at least once will get an extra 10 entries.
