Motorcyclist arrested for hitting car with helmet in George Town

GEORGE TOWN: A motorcyclist has been arrested for hitting a car with a helmet during a minor road accident on Jalan Sungai Pinang here.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Halim said the suspect, in his 30s, was arrested at his house in Sungai Pinang at about 7pm.

"The arrest was made after a complainant lodged a police report on June 8 following the minor road accident," he said in a statement.

ACP Razlam said the incident happened at about 2.50pm when the complainant was driving a car on Jalan Sungai Pinang, George Town. A disagreement occurred between the complainant and the suspect.

The complainant left the scene after finding that his car was not damaged, but the suspect followed the complainant’s car and struck the car window with a helmet.

A 1 minute 53-second video clip has gone viral, showing the complainant asking his distressed daughter to keep recording the suspect, who was pursuing their car.

"The suspect has been remanded for four days until June 12 to help with the investigation," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.
