Bracing for water cut once again

PETALING JAYA: Consumers in the Klang Valley are bracing for water supply disruption from Wednesday until Friday. The disruption in seven areas is to allow Air Selangor to carry out maintenance and replacement works.

With the disruption, consumers in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor will be affected.

Businessman Desmond Wong who lives in Sungai Buloh said he had taken steps to manage such situations several years ago on seeing a rise in the frequency of water cuts in Selangor.

Apart from upgrading his static water tank to a larger one, the 52-year-old father of two said he had also acquired a collapsible storage container that can hold up to 160 litres of water.

“We are quite well prepared and have enough water supply for about four days. However, we are getting tired of this,” he said.

Retiree Abdul Rahman Abdullah, 72, of Section 7, Shah Alam, said he has acquired a 100-gallon water tank in anticipation of the water cut.

He also has a 300-gallon supply available in his static tank.

“With three adults and three young children, I believe it is sufficient for cleaning up and bathing as we will not be cooking during the period,” he said.
