The Star's Melaka stringer Sardi Mahorm passes away

MELAKA: The Star's Melaka bureau stringer Sardi Mahorm has passed away after a month-long battle against a heart ailment.

The 55-year-old succumbed on Monday morning (May 27) at Hospital Serdang, Selangor where he had been undergoing treatment since April.

The late Sardi joined The Star's team in 2016 and was also a member of the Melaka Media Club (Pendika).

He leaves behind his wife Purinah Samsuri, 53, four sons and a granddaughter.

Sardi was also instrumental in leading The Star Melaka to emerge as a winner in the inaugural Melaka Media Awards organised by the state government in 2017 and was actively involved in community work.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh was among the first state leaders to extend condolences to Sardi's family.

Sardi will be laid to rest at the Muslim burial ground in Klebang Besar after prayers at Masjid Saad Ibni Abi Waqqas Mosque here on Monday evening.
