Triple happiness at PKR's 25th anniversary celebration

KUALA LUMPUR: On top of PKR's 25th anniversary celebration, the unity government had two other things to cheer for, including Umno's 78th anniversary and winning the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

"It is a good night as we are celebrating PKR and Umno anniversaries together with the Pakatan Harapan win in KKB, so it is triple happiness," said PKR Information Chief Fahmi Fadzil at the party's anniversary celebration at Sentul Depot here on Saturday (May 11).

Asked how PKR could attract more young people, Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, said it was vital to have young leadership.

"Our efforts, policies, and activities must resonate with young people, so we must understand them better," he said.

Meanwhile, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said the party faces challenges to gain relevance with every generation.

"We have to make sure the next generation is there. We also have to stay true to our principles.

"We are glad to have this event to close the (generation) gap between the respective leaderships," she said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail were also present at the event.

Others in attendance were Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and PKR advisory council chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
