Accident involving trailer causes 16km standstill on NSE between Sedenak, Kulai

KULAI: An accident involving a trailer at KM49.8 of the North-South Expressway has caused a 16km standstill between Sedenak and Kulai here.

According to the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), the trailer had caused all lanes to be blocked.

“The accident had occurred at KM49.8 of the expressway heading North from Sedenak to Kulai.

"All lanes were blocked, causing a traffic standstill. Road users are advised to take the Kulai exit," it said on its official Facebook page.

LLM said the trailer was still causing traffic to stall as of 3.28pm.

“Traffic was stalled for 16km. Please take the Sedenak or Kulai exit to avoid the congestion," it said.

When contacted, a police official said that vehicles were being diverted to the Kulai exit and some to the Sedenak exit.

"The trailer has successfully been moved by other lorries, and we are now waiting for the tow truck.

"No injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved. The trailer was believed to have skidded on its own,” said the official.

In separate updates, the LLM also said that there was an accident at KM52.5 of the expressway heading South from Simpang Renggam to Sedenak, and a lorry had also broken down at KM30.3 of the expressway heading South from Sedenak to Kulai.
