Biker killed after being run over by a lorry in Taiping


IPOH: A 47-year-old man was killed after being run over by a lorry at KM207, southbound, on the North-South Expressway near Taiping.

Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Nasir Ismail said the victim, who was riding on a motorcycle, had fallen onto the left lane of the road after crashing into an object that fell off a truck.

He said the incident happened at about 5.30am on Tuesday (May 7).

"A lorry that was on the left lane then ran over the motorcyclist," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

ACP Mohamad Nasir said the victim died on the spot.

He added that another motorcyclist had also crashed into the metal bar and fell.

"The 43-year-old suffered injuries to her body," he said.

ACP Mohamad Nasir said three other cars also hit the metal bar and sustained minor damage.

He said the matter would be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.

"Those who witnessed the accident are urged to contact investigation officer Insp Mohd Shahrin Mohamad at 017-926 6286 to help with the investigation," he said, adding that the area was dark and did not have street lights
