Papagomo remanded two days until May 2


PETALING JAYA: Blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, also known as Papagomo, has been remanded for two days until Thursday (May 2).

His lawyer, Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali, confirmed the matter when contacted Wednesday (May 1).

"He was brought before the magistrate at around 9.30am today.

"While the investigating officer asked for a four-day remand period to complete investigations, the defence objected.

"After hearing both sides, the learned magistrate set the remand period at two days, until Thursday," he said.

The political activist was detained for allegedly insulting His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

In a video, Papagomo allegedly questioned Sultan Ibrahim’s action in meeting the owner of KK Super Mart following the socks issue.

In the same video, he alleged that Sultan Ibrahim had instructed Chegubard, whose real name is Badrul Hisham Shaharin, 45, to be charged under the Sedition Act 1948.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the arrest was made by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department’s Special Investigation Unit on Tuesday (April 30).
