KKB polls: I'll never wave DAP flag, Noh Omar says of Umno returning 'favour'

HULU SELANGOR: Former Selangor Umno chief Tan Sri Noh Omar has questioned the need for his former party to repay a "favour" to DAP in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

Noh, who was sacked from the party last year, said Umno's actions were shameful and cast a pall over its dignity.

“It’s a good thing that I’m no longer the state chief. I’m never going to carry the DAP flag.

"What has DAP done for Umno to prompt the party president to say there is a need to repay the favour? I pity Selangor Umno," he said during a Perikatan Nasional ceramah on Tuesday (April 30) evening.

Noh was responding to a recent statement by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that it was time to repay Pakatan Harapan in the by-election for the Selangor state seat.

Ahmad Zahid, the Barisan Nasional chairman, said this was because Pakatan had helped the coalition in by-elections held after the formation of the unity government.

The by-election will see a four-cornered fight involving Pakatan, Perikatan, Parti Rakyat Malaysia and an Independent.

The seat fell vacant following the death of incumbent Lee Kee Hiong of DAP on March 21.

Polling day is May 11, with early voting on Tuesday (May 7).
