40,000 devotees flood temple

NEARLY 40,000 devotees attended the 114th annual festival of the Devisree Maha Kaliamman Temple in Buntong, Perak, taking its committee by surprise, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Temple committee chairman Nagendran Raman said the festival was a much smaller affair last year.

“This year’s event looked like a mini version of the Thaipusam celebrated at the Ipoh Kallumalai Sri Subramaniam Temple,” he said.

The temple located in Jalan Sungai Pari also featured its own chariot procession albeit on a smaller scale.

The Mumbai team defeated the Delhi Capitals by 29 runs in the season opener of the T20 format Indian Premier League.
