School clerical assistant remanded for graft in Melaka


MELAKA: A senior clerical assistant of a school was remanded for seven days at the Magistrate's Court in Ayer Keroh for allegedly awarding projects to a company owned by one of her children.

The remand order against the 54-year-old female suspect was issued by Magistrate Khairunnisak Hassni on Tuesday (March 19).

It is learnt that the suspect had allegedly abused her position by awarding supply and service projects at the school totalling RM125,158.01 to a family member.

Based on a preliminary investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), it's also alleged that such projects for 2019, 2021, and 2022 were also awarded to the same company.

The suspect was detained at the MACC office in Alai here at 2.40pm on Monday (March 18), when she was summoned to assist in the investigation under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
