Woman, nephew killed in Kulai crash


KULAI: A woman and her eight-year-old nephew were killed in a road accident at Jalan Gunung Pulai here.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said police were alerted to the crash, involving a car and a motorcycle, at 5pm on Sunday (April 5).

“The accident is believed to have occurred when the motorcyclist, a 32-year-old woman, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid into the opposite lane.

“The motorcycle then collided with a car travelling in that lane,” he said in a statement on Monday (April 6).

He said both the motorcyclist and her passenger sustained severe injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 54-year-old woman driving the car suffered minor injuries and is receiving treatment at Kulai Hospital.

ACP Tan said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He urged those with information to contact investigating officer Insp Ahmad Safuan Abu Naim at 017-7573507.

It is learnt that the victims were on their way home to Taman Perling from Kulai when the accident occurred.
