Independent committee to probe Ipoh hospital sexual harrassment allegations

PETALING JAYA: An independent committee has been set up to investigate allegations of sexual harassment involving healthcare personnel at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh, says the Perak Health Department.

Its director Dr Feisul Idzwan Mustapha said it received a letter on Feb 28, following which an investigation committee was set up.

He added that the deputy director-general appoints the committee.

“Evidence is being collected as part of the investigation process. The Health Ministry views these accusations seriously and has zero tolerance for sexual harassment at the workplace,” he added.

According to the letter, a group of junior doctors who had completed their housemanship had accused a doctor at the hospital of sexual harassment.

The letter has since gone viral on social media.
