Ramadan bazaar operators warned not to sell expired, unhygienic food items


KOTA KINABALU: Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah has warned traders to ensure the items they intend to sell, particularly food, in the coming month of Ramadan are clean and safe.

“If we ever find they were selling expired or unclean food, we will cancel their licences immediately,” he said at the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) Women’s Day 2024 event here on Friday (March 8).

He said food operators must ensure all health and safety aspects are checked, including obtaining typhoid injections.

“They must also comply with throwing of waste and garbage.

“This year, there will be 1,280 lots available for traders in 15 areas around the city.

“Our personnel will check on these bazaars every day,” Sabin added.
