PETALING JAYA: Dr Akmal Saleh has told Raub MP Chow Yu Hui to keep "dreaming on" about issuing a public apology to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

The Umno Youth chief also warned all parties not to touch on sensitive issues pertaining to the Malays and the bumiputra.

"You want me to issue an apology? Keep dreaming because it will never happen," he said in a post on Facebook late Wednesday (Feb 14) night.

On Wednesday, Chow wanted Akmal to apologise to Nga for playing up negative sentiments over the latter's proposal to get Chinese new villages listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Chow also wanted the Umno supreme council to take stern action against Akmal over his offer to school Nga on Malay history.

Chow said that the party's accusation - that the proposal would challenge the current status of bumiputras - was baseless and irresponsible,

Akmal also hit out at Chow, saying that it was DAP who first issued a statement on the sensitive matter.

"When the statement was frowned upon, they acted as if they were the victims of the situation," he said.

The social media post was accompanied by a screenshot of a news article of Chow demanding Akmal issue an apology to Nga over the issues surrounding the minister's proposal to nominate Chinese new villages or Kampung Baru Cina in Selangor as a Unesco World Heritage Site.

"Let me repeat this once again, do not ever touch on issues sensitive to the Malays and the bumiputra community.

"If so, we will not hesitate to go against you no matter who you are," added Akmal.

Nga had on Feb 1 made the proposal to list the villages in Selangor as a Unesco World Heritage Site to recognise their cultural and historical significance.

Nga had previously said that he would be meeting Umno leaders to discuss the proposal.

This follows statements from several Umno leaders who claimed the proposal touched on the position of the Malay-Bumiputra community.
