Two men nabbed for restaurant brawl in Skudai fined RM500 each, four still at large

JOHOR BARU: Two men who were recently arrested for being involved in a brawl here have been slapped with RM500 fines each.

The suspects, K. Sivanathan, 40 and S. Lohes, 38, pleaded guilty to the offence when the charge was read before magistrate Hidayatul Syuhada Shamsudin here on Thursday (Feb 1).

They were charged under Section 160 of the Penal Code for committing an affray, where if convicted, they could face maximum fines of RM1,000 or up to six months prison sentence.

According to the charge sheets, Sivanathan and Lohes, along with four others who were still at large, were involved in a brawl at a restaurant.

They were accused of committing the offence at No 1, Jalan Impian Emas 5/6, Taman Impian Emas, Skudai at about 11.50pm on Jan 26.

Sivanathan was represented by lawyer Amarpreet Singh while Lohes was not represented.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Aqillah Ahmad Rofeai.

Hidayatul set fines at RM500 for each of the accused.

It was reported earlier that the police had arrested two men to help with investigations following a brawl at a restaurant.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the two suspects were arrested in two separate locations in Skudai and Masai on Sunday (Jan 28).

"We are still on the hunt for the remaining suspects who are still at large," he said in a statement here on Monday (Jan 29).

A 45-second video of the incident has also made rounds on social media where a group of men could be seen fighting with tables and chairs.
