Perak to hold first unity govt convention on Jan 28

IPOH: The inaugural Perak State Unity Government Convention 2024 will be held on Jan 28 at Casuarina@Meru Convention Centre, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

The convention would bring together top leaders and grassroots leaders of each component party in the unity government, he added.

"With the theme 'Madani: Raising the Perak People's Agenda', the convention will be a stage for leaders at all levels to share their views and ideas," he told a press conference at state Umno headquarters here on Monday (Jan 15).

Saarani said the state Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan chairmen would deliver speeches that would focus on the unity government's directions.

"A debate session by representatives from all parties will follow.

"There will be two main forums – the Youth Perspective, and Raising the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Agenda, which will also feature panellists from all component parties," he said, adding that about 1,500 people are expected to attend.

"Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is Pakatan chairman, and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is Barisan chairman, will deliver winding-up speeches during the closing ceremony," he added.
