Mohd Khaled says he will ensure Defence White Paper is implemented

KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has given his assurance that he will continue the implementation of the Defence White Paper and strategic plans outlined by his predecessor Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

Mohamed Khaled said his recent appointment as minister did not mean he had to change or stop basic matters and aspects that would benefit the ministry and the Armed Forces.

"A change at the ministry's helm does not mean I have to change or stop everything that has been agreed upon and developed previously.

"Instead, I guarantee that every basic aspect that has been developed well will continue," he said in his New Year address at Wisma Pertahanan here on Tuesday (Jan 9).

He also commended everyone in the ministry and military who have given their best and performed their duties well.

"Congratulations to all for their hard work and contributions last year.

"Not to forget my admiration to former minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan for his leadership," he said.

Mohamed Khaled also hoped that all those at the ministry and Armed Forces will fulfil their duties responsibly and perform even better this year.
