KANGAR: The Bukit Ayer Forest Eco Geosite near here allows visitors to experience the beauty of nature and is one of the tourist destinations highlighted as part of the Visit Perlis Year 2024-2025.

Located at Sungai Batu Pahat, nearly 12km from Kangar, the geosite boasts various attractions, including an herb forest and pools where visitors can wade and swim, along with other activities like jungle trekking and driving all-terrain vehicles.

Checks by Bernama yesterday found visitors enjoying themselves in the natural pools, which are free, as well as the man-made pools, which cost RM5 for adults, RM3 for children and free for kids under six.

First-time visitor Toyibah Abdullah, 30, who came all the way from Kluang, Johor, with her family, said the park was beautiful and affordable compared to other places.

“For me, this is a very natural place, unlike other places, and filled with facilities, including suraus, toilets, changing rooms, and also stalls selling food at affordable prices,” she told Bernama.

Kangar local Sharina Mat, 52, concurred, pointing out that the park had improved significantly and was now better equipped with various user-friendly basic facilities.

“I have come here with my family often since 1982, and it has changed a lot in terms of facilities, which allows people to spend more time here comfortably,” she said.

South Perlis district forestry officer Mohd Zohdi Shihabuddin said the park would be offering more interesting activities, including glamping, set to be launched in mid-January.

On the man-made pools, he said that the Perlis Forestry Department took the initiative to build the pools, which were launched in early 2022, to allow more visitors to enjoy themselves at the park.
