Puchong floods: Couple lose dream car barely an hour after getting it

PETALING JAYA: A couple who just bought their new dream car had the fleeting pleasure of enjoying it for less than an hour before it was submerged in water due to the flood.

In a post on Facebook, Azhazul Azri said that the couple was a client of his brother who just received a brand new SUV on Saturday (Dec 16) evening.

"My brother delivered the car to his customer at 5pm. Around 6pm the customer's car was submerged in the flood," reported mStar on Sunday (Dec 17).

On Saturday, several parts of Puchong were hit by heavy floods causing shoppers at a Puchong mall waded through ankle-deep flood waters after a heavy downpour inundated parts of the shopping centre.

Some of the cars at the mall’s open car park were also affected by the flood. Video clips of the flood were widely shared on social media.

The Subang Jaya City Council issued a danger warning for the mall at 6.46pm, and advised road users to plan their journey and take an alternative route to avoid the area.

Azhazul however pointed out that the couple had made a wise decision of purchasing the special perils insurance coverage policy to protect their new car.

Social media users expressed sympathy over the incident with some praying that they will have a smooth process to handle their car situation.
