PETALING JAYA: Heavy rainfall flooded several areas in Puchong and its vicinity, with traffic snarls and a landslide in Pusat Bandar Puchong adding to the chaos.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the landslide occurred in front of a house at Jalan Wawasan 3/4 at about 7.25pm yesterday. Fortunately, no casualties were reported although a vehicle was damaged.

Residents of seven houses nearby were evacuated as there was still soil movement at the landslide site, he said in a statement.

Earlier, shoppers were seen rushing out of IOI Mall Puchong here as rising floodwaters from the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) flowed into the building.According to the Subang Jaya City Council’s flood alert system, water levels around the mall were quite high as of 6.55pm.

Shoppers said floodwaters first inundated the mall’s North Court parking area before eventually entering the interior of the North Court.

One shopper who wished to be known only as Azira said her car, which was in the mall’s carpark, was filled with water, while another mall employee said that their boss’ car was similarly inundated.
