Cabinet reshuffle: Portfolio shift big surprise for new Deputy Plantation Minister

PETALING JAYA: The shift from the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry to the Plantation and Commodity Ministry is a big surprise, says Datuk Chan Foong Hin.

He said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Dec 12) that he was only told of his transfer by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 11am.

“I am grateful to the mandate and trust given to me. I will do my best as the Deputy Plantation and Commodity Minister to develop the country.

“Agriculture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu asked me in jest if I truly want to leave him at the Menara Lembaga Pertubuhan Peladang after I finished the Dewan Negara oral question session at Dewan Negara,” he wrote.

Chan also expressed his gratitude to everyone at the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry (KPKM).

“Team KPKM is the best and amazing. I would also like to apologise if there are any shortcomings from my side and promise that I will perform my duties as best as I can to serve the nation and its people,” he said.
