Cabinet reshuffle: I'll do my best in new role, plus I have a 'HR face', quips Sim


GEORGE TOWN: Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim Chee Keong will continue efforts to enhance and uplift the status of the nation's workers as the new Human Resources Minister.

"I undertake the entrusted responsibility with full gratitude and pledge to strive to uplift the dignity of workers, regardless of their race or religion," he posted on Facebook on Tuesday (Dec 12) following the Cabinet reshuffle.

In the post, Sim also attached a picture of himself with his wife Chan Jo Rin.

He thanked his wife, whom he described as his angel who is always by his side, and added that some people have described him as having "a HR (human resources) face".

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced a Cabinet reshuffle involving the exchange of several portfolios and the appointment of new ministers and deputy ministers.

Sim replaces V. Sivakumar at the Human Resources Ministry.

Sim previously held the position of deputy finance minister II in the unity government Cabinet.

After GE14 in 2018, he served as deputy youth and sports minister.

Meanwhile, Lipis MP Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad, was appointed Deputy Human Resources Minister.

He was previously deputy public works minister.
