Special forum to discuss legal means to end genocide in Palestine, Nurul Izzah to moderate


PETALING JAYA: A special forum will be held to discuss possible legal avenues to halt the genocide in Palestine through the International Criminal Court (ICC) and International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The forum, to be held on Wednesday (Dec 13), is co-organised by the Ops-Ihsan secretariat (advocacy cluster) and will be moderated by Nurul Izzah Anwar, the daughter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

It will feature several prominent panellists including former Suhakam chairman Prof Datuk Dr Rahmat Mohamad, law expert Datuk Dr Gurdial Singh Nijar Gurdial and activist Prof Dr Mohd Afandi Salleh.

The forum, titled "Halting Genocide Through Legal Pursuits – Advocating for Palestine at The ICC and ICJ", will take place at the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS), another co-organiser.

It aims to bring political leaders, legal experts, government institutions, humanitarian agencies, academics and civil society bodies together to formulate viable strategies and call for international cooperation, with Malaysia taking a lead role in halting the genocide happening in Gaza, Palestine.
