Jobless man charged with murdering landlady in Gombak carpark


KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man has been charged at the Selayang Magistrate's Court here with murdering his elderly landlady two weeks ago.

Mohamad Amirul Arshad Zainudin, 22, nodded when the charge was read out before Magistrate Chai Guan Hock on Wednesday (Dec 6).

However, no plea was recorded as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Mohamad Amirul allegedly killed Hong Kee Ing, 70, in a carpark at Jalan E4/1, Taman Ehsan, Gombak between 8.30pm on Nov 22 and 9.50pm on Nov 23.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a death sentence or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, and not fewer than 12 strokes of the cane, upon conviction.

DPP Mohamad Nor Hakimi Mohamad Rosedin appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.

The court set Jan 16 for mention pending the chemist and autopsy reports. – Bernama
