Star Media Group wins second prize in the print category at CIDB Media Awards 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: Star Media Group won the second prize in the print category at the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Construction Media Awards 2023.

StarMetro journalists Bavani M and Shalini Ravindran were recognized for their outstanding contribution with the second prize in the Print category for their story "No Room for Pedestrians."

In addition to the prestigious accolade, they received RM3,000 in cash, a certificate and a trophy.

This sixth edition of the Construction Media Awards, organized in collaboration with CIDB and the Works Ministry, aimed to acknowledge and appreciate media practitioners' crucial role in raising awareness about the Malaysian Government's initiatives within the construction industry.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Construction Media Awards Ceremony could not be held until now. AMP 2023 marks the first time it had been conducted since the end of the pandemic.

This year's competition recognised 17 outstanding journalists and photographers.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the significance of the CIDB's Construction Media Awards spanned four competitive categories—Print Media, Electronic Media, Online Broadcasting, Photography, and the newly introduced Infographic Award.

During the Construction Media Awards 2023 held on Monday (Dec 4), he expressed his hope that this event would serve as a platform for strengthening the Ministry's relationship with the media, fostering idea exchange, and developing practical approaches to address the challenges faced by the construction industry.

"A total of 176 entries have been received across all categories since the opening of submissions last August," he said during Construction Media Awards 2023 on Monday (Dec 4).

He hoped this event would be a medium to strengthen the relationship between the Ministry and media, exchange ideas, and develop approaches to deal with the challenges the Ministry faces more effectively.

"The strengthening of the role and contribution of media partners concerning issues related to the development of national infrastructure is very important because the media is the medium of communication between the Government and the people," he added.

Also present were Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad and Secretary-General Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad.
