KUALA LUMPUR: Star Media Group chief executive officer Chan Seng Fatt has been reappointed honorary secretary of the Malaysian Newspaper Publishers' Association (MNPA) for the 2026-2028 term.
Chan will continue overseeing the association's governance, administration and strategic initiatives, MNPA said in a statement on Wednesday (July 1).
The reappointment follows the MNPA's 53rd annual general meeting, where New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd chief operating officer Luqman Adrine Ja'afar was reappointed as MNPA chairman.
Nanyang Group chief executive officer Liew Sam Ngan was reappointed honorary treasurer, continuing to oversee the MNPA's financial management and governance.
Luqman said the association's focus for the new term would be on strengthening the collective voice of Malaysian publishers and adapting to challenges in the modern media era.
"Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that trustworthy and impactful journalism continues to thrive in Malaysia," he said.
MNPA said the reappointments reflect confidence in the office bearers' leadership as the association navigates an evolving media landscape.
Established in 1971, MNPA represents most mainstream newspaper publishers in the Peninsula and East Malaysia, including the New Straits Times, The Star, The Sun, The Edge, Berita Harian, Sinar Harian, Sin Chew Daily, China Press, Nanyang Siang Pau, See Hua Daily News, United Daily News and Makkal Osai.
