PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor was invited to participate in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's visit to the Bukit Kayu Hitam ICQS complex on Nov 27, but the Kedah Mentri Besar also showed up to another meeting which was not mentioned in the invitation, says the Foreign Ministry.

Wisma Putra said the invitation was extended to Muhammad Sanusi in a letter dated Nov 25, 2023.

"The invitation was based on the appropriateness of his involvement in the programme," said the ministry in a statement on Friday (Dec 1), referring to Muhammad Sanusi's statement during the Kedah State Assembly on Nov 29 that no seat was prepared for him during a pre-council meeting with the Prime Minister at Hotel Raia, Alor Setar which was held prior the start of his working visit to Sadao, Thailand on Nov 27, 2023.

Wisma Putra said Muhammad Sanusi was not scheduled to be involved in the pre-council meeting with the Prime Minister and the invitation letter dated Nov 25, 2023, did not mention it either.

"When the Kedah Mentri Besar decided to attend this pre-council meeting, the Prime Minister prepared a seat for him," it said.

The ministry said Muhammad Sanusi was also not involved in the visit to Sadao but at the Kedah Mentri Besar's request, Anwar agreed for him to join the official delegation. – Bernama
