Perak budget set for Dec 1, Muslim Will Bill to also be tabled

Perak Speaker Datuk Mohd Zahir Abdul Khalid

IPOH: The Perak 2024 budget will be tabled on Friday (Dec 1) with the presentation of a second Bill on Wasiat (Muslim Will), says state Speaker Datuk Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid.

He said this would be the first budget tabled by the unity government.

“The sitting will be for six days from Dec 1 to 8. Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad will table the budget and since it is the first budget from the state unity government, it is expected to be an exciting one.

“Besides the tabling of the budget, there will be a second Bill presented on Wasiat with six assemblymen expected to debate on it,“ he told a press conference at the State Secretariat Building here on Tuesday (Nov 28).

Mohamad Zahir added that unlike the previous sitting held in May, the question-and-answer session will only be given 60 minutes this time.

“Previously, the session was set at 90 minutes. But we have decided to change it to allow more time for debates.

“For the budget debate, which is expected to be held on Monday (Dec 4), all assemblymen will be given a chance to debate," he added.
