MPs lock horns over issue on M’sia-S’pore ties

THE Dewan Rakyat erupted into another shouting match when an MP accused another lawmaker of causing ties between Malaysia and Singapore to be strained.

RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) was speaking during the debate on Budget 2024 related to the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry when he asked whether the remarks of another MP on DAP leaders would cause problems in trade ties between Malaysia and Singapore.

Although Rayer did not name the MP, Dr Siti Mastura Muhammad (PN-Kepala Batas) stood up and demanded Rayer retract his comments.

“According to Standing Order 36 (6), an MP should not impute improper motives on any other member.

“I request that Jelutong withdraw his statement. I have given my statement (to the police) and there is no decision yet,” she said.

Rayer then told Siti Mastura to sit down and insisted that he did not mention her name.
