Bigger evacuation centres are being considered for flash flood victims in Bangi

PETALING JAYA: A bigger temporary evacuation centre is being considered following flash floods in Kampung Bangi and Bangi Lama.

Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Nov 5) that discussions were conducted after he visited the two temporary centres at the Kampung Bangi MPKK Balairaya and Tadika Perpaduan Taman Bangi Ria.

"Both are too small, and discussions have been conducted to open an evacuation centre at SK Bangi. I have received information that a bigger centre will be opened there,” said Syahredzan.

"I have yet to receive the full facts on the cause of the floods, which were very bad this time. It is estimated that around 120 houses were affected," he added.

Syahredzan then added that some in the affected areas had refused to move out of their homes.

Previously, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said that as of 8.47am, a total of 79 people had been evacuated by the department, with around 100 more leaving alone.
