King, Queen grace PBSM 75th anniversary charity gala

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah graced the Malaysian Red Crescent Society’s (PBSM) 75th Anniversary Charity Gala Dinner on Saturday (Nov 4) night.

MRCS national chairman Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, in her speech, said that the society recently launched an appeal to assist the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in their efforts to provide humanitarian support, in light of the recent crisis there.

"We are presently making arrangements to transfer RM200,000 to the PRCS. These contributions are made possible by the generosity of Malaysians and support of the government.

"We are witnessing disregard for international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions and rules and conduct of war and urge you to continue to support our efforts," she said.

She also said that the MRCS has managed to raise RM1.9mil worth of contributions from corporate entities such as Nestle Malaysia, CIMB Foundation, Yayasan TM, Melaleuca Southeast Asia and Pfizer, for various humanitarian initiatives such as flood relief efforts, the society’s emergency service room upgrades, and humanitarian field school.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh and Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail were among the dignitaries who attended the dinner.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also officiated at the launch of PBSM 75th Anniversary Commemorative Stamp collection during the dinner. - Bernama
