Irresponsible of MYAirline to suspend flights without notice, says S'wak minister

KUCHING: The sudden suspension of MYAirline's operations without notice was irresponsible on the part of its management, says Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.

Expressing his disappointment, he said this had caused a lot of inconvenience and unhappiness to travellers.

"The ministry has received several calls from affected passengers asking for help with refunds and further information on the suspension," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 13).

Lee also said he had contacted the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) executive chairman personally and was given an assurance that all efforts would be taken to assist those affected.

He said MYAirline's schedule to Sarawak included three daily flights to Kuching, two daily flights to Sibu and one daily flight to Miri from Kuala Lumpur.

About 125,000 passengers nationwide are estimated to be affected by the suspension, which was announced on Thursday (Oct 12).
