Pelangai by-election: Election machinery out in full force to drum up voter turnout, says Bentong MCA chairman

PETALING JAYA: All election machinery and transportation teams are in place to ensure a high turnout among the Chinese voting population in Pelangai, says MCA.

Bentong MCA chairman Datuk Kang Meng Fuat said voters in Pelangai, especially the Chinese community, have shown positive response towards Barisan Nasional's candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam.

He said party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong had been actively moving on the ground with the Pahang MCA leadership, including Tan Sri Lim Ah Lek, Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai and Datuk Seri Hoh Khai Mun, to support the Barisan candidate.

"Bentong MCA has tried its best to identify 2,974 Chinese voters in DUN Pelangai, Telemong, Sungai Gapoi, Sungai Perdak and Manchis.

"MCA has set up a call centre and the feedback we received from members has been very positive.

"A total of 1,120 or 37.66% of the Chinese voters in Pelangai are MCA members, of whom Bentong MCA has identified 998 to vote for Barisan tomorrow (Oct 7)," said Kang in a statement on Friday (Oct 6).

He said Get-out-the-vote (GOTV), Pacaba (Polling, Counting and Barung Agents) and transportation teams are already in place and excited to ensure a high turnout among the Chinese voting population in Pelangai.

"Bentong MCA is leaving no stone unturned and no members left out in this by-election, including members who need transport as well as those who need special assistance such as wheelchairs.

"MCA is confident that the majority of Chinese voters in Pelangai, particularly in Telemong and Manchis, will turn up to vote and deliver a resounding victory for Barisan," said Kang.
