Budget 2024 to focus on healthcare facilities, says Anwar

IPOH: Healthcare facilities will be given focus comes Budget 2024, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said ensuring better facilities such as setting up more health clinics would be prioritised.

“In Budget 2023, both the Health and Education ministries received the biggest chunk of allocation.

“This year, works have been carried out for school toilets that required repairs, as well as nine health clinics completed in Kelantan,” he said in his speech before launching the Madani Medical Scheme and the national-level Madani Afiat programme at the Sultan Azlan Shah roundabout in Meru here on Sunday (Oct 1).

Anwar said there were also regular complaints of overcrowded government hospitals.

“I hear some parties saying that under my leadership no action has been taken over the issue.

“This has been a long standing issue for years, and because of no fast action and inadequate allocation, the matter is not resolved.

“Hence, the focus of the government is to provide better and more health facilities,” he added.

Anwar said that details of the goodies for healthcare would only be announced on Oct 13, when Budget 2024 is tabled at the Dewan Rakyat.
