Food delivery rider succumbs to head injuries after accident in Kota Kinabalu


KOTA KINABALU: A 43-year-old food delivery rider who was involved in an accident on Sunday (Sept 17) here, succumbed to severe head injuries on Monday (Sept 18).

The victim who was brought to Likas Hospital for treatment, was pronounced dead at 12.45pm, said Kota Kinabalu acting OCPD Supt Kalsom Idris.

“Investigations continue and the case is being probed under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (causing death by reckless or dangerous driving),” she said in a statement here.

The victim had collided with a car while riding the motorcycle along Jalan UMS.

Initial investigations found the motorist, a 27-year-old man, was moving towards Likas direction and was coming from One Sulaman.

"The crash happened when the driver was trying to overtake another car and accidentally hit the rider," added Supt Kalsom.
