Just like Rajinikanth, Anwar deserves 'Thalaivar' tag, says Rayer

KUALA LUMPUR: Just like Rajnikanth, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim deserves the "Thalaivar (leader)" tag, says RSN Rayer.

While debating the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) mid-term-review, Rayer (PH-Jelutong) said the Indian superstar was also impressed by Anwar’s political career.

“Rajnikanth commented that he was impressed by the way the Prime Minister conducted his duties and how he fends for the people,” he said

“Rajnikanth was also impressed by Anwar’s career and political history, right from the Reformasi period until now”.

“The 'Thalaivar' title given to Rajnikanth should be given to the Prime Minister as well. We can start calling him Thalaivar,” he added.

Anwar received a courtesy visit from the Tamil movie superstar at his office in Putrajaya on Monday (Sept 11).

In a Facebook post on Monday, Anwar said he had met the Indian actor, who is not only famous in Asia but also worldwide.

"I am honoured by the appreciation given to my mission to address the suffering and hardship faced by the people.

"Among the matters discussed were social issues I am fighting for, which could be included in his films," he said in the social media post which have garnered tens of thousands of likes on Instagram alone.

The Prime Minister also said he was praying for Rajnikanth's continued excellence in his field and films.

In the comments section, many were excited by the post, with references made to Rajnikanth's blockbuster film Sivaji: The Boss and others saying it was the "meeting of two legends".

The actor is famous for his catchy punchlines as well as signature moves.
