Married couple killed in Gombak after accident causes car to catch fire

GOMBAK: A husband and wife lost their lives after a traffic collision led to their car catching on fire.

Acting Gombak OCPD Supt Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir, in a statement on Thursday (Sept 7), said that the incident occurred earlier that day at 4.30am along Jalan Kuala Garing in Rawang.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, was with his 23-year-old wife at the time and heading to Rawang from Bandar Country Homes.

"The driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle, which led to the car entering the opposite lane before being hit by a lorry that was heading toward Bandar Country Homes.

"The crash caused both vehicles to catch fire and the couple failed to escape. The lorry driver managed to escape without any injuries," he said.

Supt Noor Ariffin added that a post-mortem will be conducted at the Selayang Hospital.

Those with information on the accident are urged to contact Insp Mohamad Suhaimi Tukiman at 013-755 7556 or the Gombak police headquarters at 03-6126 2222.
