More Perak landowners expected to opt for online quit rent payment, says MB

IPOH: More quit rent payers in Perak are expected to opt for online payment by 2024, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

The Perak Mentri Besar said land owners can check their rent and status at the Perak Land and Mining (PTG) office’s website.

“Starting from next year, PTG will no longer issue any physical bills for quit rent.

“Landowners can register themselves on the website where they can also check their history payments and matters related to their property,” he said at a press conference after the state-level National Land Day celebration at Casuarina@Meru here on Monday (Aug 28).

Saarani said while the Federal Territories have opted for such a system, Perak is the first to implement it for all 12 districts.

“While we understand that there might be those who don’t have Internet access or are not familiar with the online system, it is important for us to move forward.

“Take electrical bills for example, we can now pay them online through various transaction platforms at any time.

“We want to provide an easier user experience for the public. By going online, they don’t have to go to PTG and line up just to make transactions.

“All state assemblymen are also advised to provide internet access to assist those who need help with this matter,” he said, adding that the system is also set to encourage more people to register their property online.

“I was told that Perak has about two million property owners, but only a few thousand have registered and opted for online payment.

“So hopefully with the new campaign, we will get more people to register.

“Besides than media coverage, we will also approach head villagers and mosques committee to explain more about the online system,” he added.
