Selangor MB, exco to be sworn in on Monday

KLANG: The new executive team to helm Selangor will be sworn in on Monday, the Selangor palace has announced.

In a statement posted on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook account yesterday, the palace said Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has consented to the swearing-in and oath-taking ceremony to be held on Aug 21.

The swearing-in of the Mentri Besar is scheduled to be held at Istana Alam Shah here at 11am.

The statement added that members of Selangor’s new executive council will also be sworn in on the day at the same venue at 2pm.

Although no names have been disclosed, it is highly likely that caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who retained his Sungai Tua seat in last Saturday’s state election, will be sworn in for a second term as Selangor’s top executive.

The 10 exco members will be chosen from Pakatan Harapan’s 32 and Barisan Nasional’s two elected representatives.

In the Aug 12 polls, the two coalitions, working as a political pact for the first time, won 34 seats.

The other 22 seats were taken by the opposition Perikatan Nasional.
