Razarudin the new top cop

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Comm Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay have been officially appointed as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Deputy IGP respectively.

Tomorrow marks the commencement of the tenures of Razarudin and Comm Ayob Khan, who will be joining forces to lead their respective roles.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the appointments were consented to by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in accordance with Clauses 4 and 5 of Article 140 of the Federal Constitution, following advice from the Prime Minister based on the recommendation of the Police Force Commission.

Saifuddin Nasution said Razarudin has been appointed as IGP on a contract basis from June 23 until June 22, 2025.

“The government congratulates them on their appointment,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Razarudin, 61, was born on March 15, 1963, in Dengkil, Selangor. Since commencing his service in 1984 at the Kedah Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as an investigating officer, he has held various positions within the police force.

In 1996, he was transferred to the Muar district police headquarters, where he served as an assistant superintendent.
