5.2-magnitude earthquake strikes Flores, Indonesia


 KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck the Flores region of Indonesia at 9.31am on Saturday (Aug 22).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a statement, said the earthquake was detected at coordinates 8.2 degrees South and 120.6 degrees East, about 210km east of Bima, Indonesia.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 45km and posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia, according to MetMalaysia. - Bernama
