KUALA LUMPUR: An aggressive and continuous approach to promoting trade and economic development should be the main focus, especially during a time of global challenges, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

Sharing that the trade war between the United States and China as well as the fallout of the Russian-Ukraine conflict as challenging times, Dr Wee said this was the main conversation factor during a courtesy visit from the China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO).

Dr Wee in a post on his social media said he was visited by the CAEXPO secretariat director and Guangxi International China-Asean Expo general manager Tang Hai and their International Trade division director Chen Zhou on Tuesday (June 13).

"Our conversation made clear that there is a need for stronger cooperation between Malaysia and China in manufacturing, academia and vocational training, as well as collaborations in climate and green technologies and agriculture.

"MCA is prepared to lend our support based on our vast experience and work together as a team between the nations to create opportunities for Malaysians," he said.

On the expo, Dr Wee said Malaysian entrepreneurs have long been reaping benefits from taking part in the event and he believes this edition will be no different.

The 20th CAEXPO will be held in Guangxi, China from Sept 16 to 19 this year (2023).

The registration limit for the CAEXPO has been reached.
